Hi, my name is Karin, and I am the voice of The Trusty Reviewer. I will take you along my journey to find good products that last a long time, so you can save money for more important things. Let me tell you a little bit about myself here.
Now, if you are like me then you read lots of reviews before you decide to purchase a product. One of the biggest reasons for me is saving money. I am sure that this is the number one reason for you too.
So, when I start seeing reviews that read: “Oh, I just got my hairdryer, it looks so great! That color is amazing, and they shipped it so fast!” – I get kind of annoyed.
It does not tell me anything about that hairdryer.
- Does it work when you turn it on?
- How hot does it get?
- How long until the auto-shutoff kicks in?
- How long until it is cool enough to touch?
- Does it break when you put it down too hard?
- Do the buttons work or get stuck over time?
These are just basic questions I have and would like them to be answered from people that actually use that product, maybe not every day, but a few times a week.
I am certain that you have the same questions. But how many reviews do you want to read in order to get at least a couple answered? There are sometimes 1000’s of reviews, so finding those answers takes a lot of time I do not want to spend on every product I would like to buy.
That’s where ‘The Trusty Reviewer’ comes in. I will be answering these questions honestly and to the best of my ability. And yes, if you have more questions, please write it in a comment and I will answer them as quickly as possible.
So, what kind of products do I review. Well, anything from household products, to electronics, to pet products, clothing, you name it. Some will be written reviews with pictures, and some will have a video attached. There will be more categories added as I review more products. Just come back frequently to see what’s new.

How do you find the best products for your pet? If you are like me, you read lots of reviews. Can you trust them? Hopefully, but sometimes I am not so sure. Here at The Trusty Reviewer, you will get honest reviews, good or bad, so you as a dedicated pet owner can make an informed decision.

Our home is our safe space, and we want to make it as comfortable and beautiful as we can. If you see something that you like and that would fit into your home, do you go out and buy it immediately? Well, I do not. First, I research the product and then I read reviews and sometimes wait, especially if the product is new and not really used very long, so I can find out if the product is worth to spend money on. Does the O-Cedar Spin Mop Work? – A mop is a necessity in every house, no doubt. But there are so many of them out there that it is difficult to choose which one will work. I have several mops besides my trusty Swiffer Wet Jet, and I like the O-Cedar Spin Mop the best. Why? Ease of use, microfiber strands, etc. Check out my review and decide for yourself.

Are Swiffer Products Good? – What kind of mops and dusters are you using? Well besides my O-Cedar mop and bucket and a squeegee for the bathrooms I use Swiffer for sweeping, mopping and dusting. Which Computer Mouse Is Best For Me? – If you are reading this, I am guessing you are either on your phone, tablet, or on your computer, where you probably use a mouse to navigate the website. There are countless computer mice out there and you might have questions to which mouse would fit you best. Do you use your computer mouse for basic work? Are you a designer and need a specialized computer mouse? Are you a gamer that needs a gaming computer mouse?
Just as I am working on this website an article appeared that with the initiative of Amazon several websites like Expedia, Trip Advisor, Booking.com and others are cracking down on fake reviews using AI technology. Well, sure it can work, but it can also get people banned that write their own ‘real’ reviews. Writing fake reviews with AI technology works quite well and I am glad that those companies want to do something about it.
I know Amazon is working on getting rid of either fake reviews or reviews that have nothing to do with the product. And I appreciate that very much. Because there is nothing worse than trying to decide on buying a product and 50% of the reviews you read are for a different product. The last couple of years were really bad in that regard. It got a little better, which tells me that something is being done to weed out those reviews. But I still find them now and then.
Just last week I was looking for a border fence to keep the ducks from running through our front patio and while reading reviews I came across one that was talking about beautiful colors, but they only received one instead of two pieces. I stopped and thought to myself ‘what am I reading here?’, the fence I chose does not come in different colors and I will get 10 pieces. So obviously they were talking about something entirely different that had nothing to do with my fence.
Here on ‘The Trusty Reviewer’ reviews will be exactly for that specific product or sometimes about a comparison of similar products. So be assured you will get an honest review and a product that we, my husband, family or friends, or I own.

RIP Swiffer Sweeper – After 22 wonderful years my Swiffer Sweeper finally broke. I really loved this sweeper, it was light and easy to handle, I could use Swiffer duster sheets or microfiber cloths. So, I got a new one. There were a couple of options – the original and the XL. Read on to find out which I like better.
The Garbage Disposal Debate – Did you ever read an article that warns you about using a certain appliance? I did a couple weeks ago where they warned about using 10 things in your disposal – mainly F O O D. Really?! The article was adamant about throwing your food out to the compost pile or in the trash can. Well, that might work if you live in the country, but I have never seen a compost in the city in an apartment building. Check out my post about this very strange article.
Are New And Improved Products Better? – It would seem so. But do they really work better, taste better, look better than the old ones? Some companies disguise these products with ‘new and improved’ on their labels and in their advertising, just so that the word “Shrinkflation” does not enter your mind. Have you noticed that there is boxes or bags have less product in them, but the price stays either the same or goes up? It is everywhere and is there anything that can be done?
Packaging – A Societies Nightmare – Are you drowning in a sea of packaging material from cardboard to Styrofoam and plastic? You are not alone. As soon as you order something you get at least a box or an envelope, and hopefully either one is made out of cardboard. At least cardboard you can recycle, but plastic is another story. You can recycle it, yes, but it does not go away and most of it you find in the landfill or ocean. Is there anything we can do to help our planet?
Is there a duck repellant that really works? – I have a duck problem. Yes, a big one. I am sure some of you do too. Ducks are beautiful animals, but I prefer them on a lake or at least a pond, far away from people. Our ducks have made their home around the front of our condos and make a huge mess. Having to hose down the entrance to our front door every day at least once is a nuisance, and I was researching ways to keep those ducks away. Get here some ideas to keep your ducks away too.
