Where do you buy your beauty and health products?
Are you going to a pharmacy?
Maybe go to a department store?
Or do you order your beauty products online?
I used to buy a lot of beauty products at Burdines, but unfortunately, they closed the store a long time ago. Burdines had a nice selection, and their prices were very good.
After their closing, all that are left now are J.C. Penny, Macy’s, Bloomingdales and a few more that are a little farther away. But I just can’t get myself to pay so much money at one of these more “high end” department stores.
That leaves me with Walgreens or CVS or buy my beauty products online. Yes, we have a Walmart too, where I buy things like face cleaning tissues and pads, cotton balls, etc.
I am from Austria, so I am used to certain beauty products that I grew up with. So, every time I visit there, I buy all my creams and lotions. But sometimes I run out and trying to find them here is a little more complicated. That’s when I look for products online. I can find some of them like Nivea creams and even my foot cream I can get here. Other lotions not so much. But there are substitutes I can get. The problem with buying online is that you cannot really tell what a lotion smells like, how thick it is, how much it hydrates, etc. Reviews help a little, but everyone is different, and a beauty product recommended by lots of people might not work for you.
So, recommendations are always a sticky point for me. I would rather have a review that highlights the good and bad of a product and lets me choose if I want to try it, than someone telling me ‘You have to try this’.
Here at ‘The Trusty Reviewer’ you will get an honest review and sure, it will be my opinion, but I will not recommend products, even if there is a link to that product, I want you to make up your own mind, without my influence.
I know many people like to be guided into buying something, but I have a huge aversion to salespeople that stand on top of you convincing you to buy a certain product. That usually achieves the opposite with me – I leave the store.
