Buying clothes is not really one of my favorite things to do, but necessary, nevertheless. When I was working out of the house, I needed more clothes that I do now working from home. I also picked up my pants, shirts and underwear mostly on my way home from work.
I had my favorites that fit me perfectly and I bought quite a few of them. The pants I love are ‘White Stag’, and I bought them at Walmart. But suddenly they did not carry that brand anymore and I was left with some strange brands that did not fit me and were uncomfortable to wear.
So, I was looking online, if I could find the ‘White Stag’ but did not succeed. I still have my pants I use to go out with, and I keep them in good shape. But then I started working from home and I needed some comfortable clothes for every day. I first looked at Walmart, Target, etc. and could not find anything. Then I went online and there the problems started. You cannot feel the fabric before you buy. You have to rely on other people to tell you how they fit, what kind of fabric it is, and that is not always accurate. On top of that, not all colors feel the same. I bought some capri pants in black that were kind of comfortable. They fit fairly well, and the fabric feels ok. I then bought a pair of the same capri pants in grey, and the fabric feels terrible. They are scratchy and the cut is off – just not the same as the black pants.
Underwear is even worse to buy online. I had my favorite brands that I bought for the last 20 years, usually in the store. Then I started buying them from their website and they were still ok until last year. When I bought the last package, I noticed that their elastic was now exposed, and they were poorly made. So, I bought a different brand of underwear, and their cut is very uncomfortable to wear.
None of these problems, being it the pants or the underwear were obvious in the reviews. People were praising the products; how good they were and how perfect they fit. Well, this might be the case for some people, but the exposed rubber for example was not mentioned once in all the 100’s of reviews I read. So, maybe I got a bad batch, or more bad batches, which I do not think. But I notice a lot of promotional reviews were people get paid by the company to write a review. I was approached a few times to write a review, but the requirement was to give it a minimum of 4 stars and write a good review. I declined that offer, as I do not write false reviews. If I do not like a product, or if the product has problems, I cannot give it 4 or 5 stars.
But there are plenty of people writing these promotional reviews. Just another reason for me to write honest reviews on ‘The Trusty Reviewer’. Here I do not get paid to write reviews with a certain number of stars. I might put a link to a product I like, but you should always choose for yourself, if you want to buy this product.
